If, like me, you feel that if you’re not constantly achieving you’re falling behind or if you’re not meeting goals or milestones you’re failing, it maybe time to pause.

We’re not machines! We’re complex and evolving human beings progressing at different stages in our lives.

Growth doesn’t always look like constant busyness. Sometimes it looks like rest, saying no or taking time to figure things out.

We’re doing the best we can—and often that’s enough.

Owning a business can be both exhilarating and challenging. If you are thinking about setting up your own venture, which is what I did many years ago, here are some pros and cons to consider.

Advantages:

Independence and Control: Being your own boss allows you the freedom to make your own decisions and shape your future direction.  This is one of the reasons why I left my corporate role.

Potential for Financial Reward: If you find the right offer, product or service there's the potential to make more money and create wealth on your terms.

Flexibility: This was another reason I chose self-employment as it gave me the flexibility to work, travel and accommodate personal commitments.

Creative Expression: I’ve found it interesting and satisfying to have the freedom to be innovative and creative – trying out new approaches and ideas when I choose to.

Personal Growth: Running a business challenges you to develop new skills, learn from setbacks, and continuously improve yourself.  Due to all the ups and downs of being a business owner, it will mean a lot of personal and professional development!

However, here are some of downsides:

Financial Risk: Business ownership does come with financial uncertainty, especially if there are monthly cash flow fluctuations, changes in the economy and change in consumer preferences. However, there are ways you can mitigate and prepare for any financial challenges.

Stress: Entrepreneurs often work long hours, especially in the early stages. It can be stressful when the responsibility is on your shoulders to make decisions, deliver work and generate income.

Uncertainty and Instability: Markets do change, and the competition will always be there, which can create uncertainty.  As a result, you do have to be adaptable and resilient.

Isolation: Running a business can be lonely at times.  I’ve experienced this many times and have often missed my former colleagues and office environment.  That’s why it’s important to build a network and make the time to connect with others in person whenever possible.

If you own your own business what are your thoughts?

Traditional business tools like marketing plans and revenue models are important—but they don’t tell the whole story.

Have you ever launched something, or poured your heart into a project that just didn’t work out, even though you carefully planned and implemented your approach?

This is where business energetics comes in. It helps you look beneath the surface and ask:
‌
Is this business, project or offer aligned with my values and deeper purpose?

Am I energetically showing up as the leader I want to be?

Am I holding onto outdated stories or beliefs that are blocking growth?
‌
When the energy behind you and your business is aligned, things can flow more easily. You attract the right opportunities, make decisions with more confidence, and feel more connected to your goals and purpose.

Business energetics is a concept which suggests that by aligning your thoughts, intentions, and actions with positive energy or vibrations, you can attract desired outcomes in business.

In practical terms, this could involve techniques such as visualization, positive affirmations, mindfulness practices, and aspects of metaphysics like the law of attraction. The idea is to create a mindset and environment where success and desired outcomes are more likely to manifest.

For example, if you’re looking to attract clients or business opportunities, practicing business energetics might involve visualizing successful client meetings, affirming your capability to handle new projects, and maintaining a positive attitude.

However, it’s essential to balance these practices with actions and strategies. Business energetics isn’t about relying solely on thoughts and intentions; it’s about enhancing an overall approach to attracting the outcomes we desire.

Is this something you practice?
